  1. Oh wow I finally got around to listening to the podcast. Thanks very much for the shout out!

I'm not so sure I really want an audience because, well I screw things up a lot. The impetus for the hats as fund raising came from wanting to help a young writer in Kenya pay the money so his university would release his diploma, and he really needed to see a dentist. But he got wind of it he was mortified; basically would totally ruin his credibility. Ah, you know the old adage about the road to hell. But then there was a specific grant effort around water borne diseases, so I put up a blog in support of that.

I think the hat idea as a money raising thing could work, especially if lots of people are making hats. But my efforts never have yielded any dough :-) I'm happy to make hats, but they're cheap enough to make that what really would make me happy is kids making them. As an added social benefit, we need more parties. Parties are where people get together and talk about stuff that matters. Parties and driving to work of course.

That makes me think what you really need are driving hats! Anyway there's a window of opportunity her, tell Jamie to tell me what kind of hat she'd like.

Oh and possibly related to the theme of your blog: art, Guy Laliberte of Cirque du Soleil has formed the One Drop Foundation. Right now in space, a poetical social mission.

4/5 of all illnesses are caused by water borne disease, diarrhea is the leading cause of childhood deaths. Water issues are affecting everyone. If you're into essays that light your hair on fire here's one about the American Southwest and water.

  2. Actually the space mission is next year. One Drop has other projects too. What I like is the combination of social art creation in all the projects. The missing piece in do-gooding is too often the social connection which art can inspire.
